THE NEXT HIGH-TECH MANUFACTURING HUB FOR GLOBAL INNOVATION

The technology sector is driving Vietnam’s next growth era, which sees a century’s progress packed into a decade.

Over the past 10 years, Vietnam has evolved into one of Asia’s fastest-growing tech powerhouses, leading the region in high-tech trade, digital transformation, and advanced manufacturing.

Global technology corporations such as Samsung, Intel, NVIDIA, Google, Meta, alongside leading Vietnamese innovators like Viettel, VNPT, FPT, and CMC are shaping the country’s innovation ecosystem.

Powered by robust economy growth, Vietnamese government’s investment incentives and special investment procedures, ever-growing digital market, and future-ready workforce, Vietnam is firmly positioning itself as a global high-tech manufacturing hub.

Vietnam leads the world in high-tech trade

Vietnam ranks among world’s top countries for high-tech exports and imports, according to the Global Innovation Index 2025 – World Intellectual Property Organization.

High-tech products now account for over 36% of Vietnam’s total trade value. In other words, over a third of the country’s export revenue already comes from high-tech goods, everything from electronics to advanced manufacturing.

Vietnamese companies are increasingly participating in the global high-tech value chain. Products such as electronic circuit boards used in smart devices, electrical equipment, and educational tools are gaining popularity worldwide.
In addition, Vietnam also ranks among the top countries in high-tech imports at 29.4%, sharing the position with Hong Kong, China. Imports are mainly machinery and equipment for production and business activities.

Preferential policies for high-tech enterprises in Vietnam, including tax incentives, land grants, financial support for large projects, human resource development programs have spurred this rise, solidifying Vietnam’s reputation as a destination for innovation-driven manufacturing.

High-tech Manufacturing in Northern Vietnam

Cities and provinces in Northern Key Economic Region have implemented strategies to attract large-scale, high-technology investment projects, specifically prioritizing sectors that offer high value-added products and integrate deeply into global supply chains.

With Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh forming a connected industrial triangle, the North now drives a major share of Vietnam’s record-high FDI inflows in electronics, semiconductors, and digital manufacturing.

  • Hanoi: National innovation and R&D hub, home to FPT’s global IT campus.
  • Hai Phong: Vietnam’s fastest-growing manufacturing and logistics city.
  • Quang Ninh: Green economy and smart industry pioneer.

The high-tech manufacturing landscape in this triangle is dominated by major high-value sectors: Electronics and Semiconductors, Electric Vehicles and Battery Technology, Automotive and Supporting Industries, and Advanced Materials. This is backed by world-class infrastructure and seamless connectivity to China and global supply chains.

SK leaveo builds world’s largest biodegradable material plant in DEEP C.

SK leaveo, a subsidiary of SKC Ltd., develops and produces biodegradable materials (PBAT, PBS) to address global plastic waste and microplastic issues, using a proprietary technology that incorporates nano-cellulose from trees as a reinforcing agent.

In 2024, SK leaveo chose DEEP C Hai Phong 1 industrial park in Hai Phong, Vietnam as the site for their first and world’s largest PBAT production.

The plant, representing an initial investment of $100 million, with plans to scale up to $500 million by 2030, is designed for an annual production capacity of 70,000 tons. This facility will run on renewable energy to ensure an eco-friendly production process.

SK leaveo’s project expands DEEP C’s high-tech portfolio with a new materials industry rooted in innovation and sustainability. The project reaffirms DEEP C as a trusted eco-industrial park developer for global investors seeking a sustainable production base in Vietnam.
